No – Fat Mixed Lentil Soup

An easy and healthy filling soup. It is protein rich and can be served as a full meal. It helps in weight management as no oil, butter or cream has been used.


  • Masoor dal – 3 tbsp
  • Moong dal – 3tbsp
  • Toor dal – 2 tbsp
  • Tomato – 1, chopped
  • Carrot – 1, chopped
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Garlic – 2 cloves
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Salt, ½ tsp
  • Black pepper powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp, chopped
  • Water – 3.5 cups


  • In a bowl, add 3 tbsp masoor dal, 3 tbsp moong dal, 2 tbsp toor dal. Soak for 30 mins.
  • In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, 1 inch ginger, 2 garlic cloves, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp salt and 2 cups water. Pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium flame. Once the pressure settles, allow to cool and transfer to a blender and blend to a smooth paste.
  • In a kadhai, add the dal mixture, ½ tsp black pepper powder and 1.5 cups water to adjust the consistency. Mix well and simmer for 5 mins. Garnish with 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot.
