Stir Fried Chickpeas

A delicious stir fried dish made with chickpeas, spices and herbs. Fiber and protein rich, it helps to maintain to maintain blood sugar levels and keeps the digestive tract healthy.


  • 2 cups chickpeas
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 pinch asafoetida
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 green chilli slit
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garam masala


  • Pressure cook chickpeas for 6-8 whistles on a medium heat.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, 1 slit green chilli, curry leaves and 1 pinch asafoetida.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute well till the raw smell goes off.
  • Add the cooked chickpeas.
  • Add garam masala, salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder. Stir well for a min. Cook well till the water evaporates completely.
  • Serve hot.
